Spicy Dakgalbi (Stir-fried Chicken BBQ)
A spicy, stir-fried chicken dish traditionally cooked on a large round hot plate. It combines marinated chicken chunks with sweet potato, cabbage, and rice cakes in a fiery gochujang-based sauce.
Ingredients
Chicken & Veg
Spicy Sauce
Instructions
Mix all sauce ingredients (gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce, sugar, garlic, curry powder) in a bowl.
Combine the cubed chicken with the sauce and let it marinate for at least 20 minutes.
Heat a large skillet or tabletop griddle. Add a splash of oil, then add the marinated chicken, sweet potato, and rice cakes.
Stir-fry on medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes, then add the cabbage and continue cooking until the chicken is cooked through and vegetables are soft.
Finish with chopped scallions and sesame seeds.
Chef's Tips
Use chicken thighs for juiciness; breast meat dries out too fast.
Add mozzarella cheese on top at the end for 'Cheese Dakgalbi'.
If the sauce is too thick while cooking, add a splash of water.
